Past
Cai was born the perfect combination of a succubus and blood demon. His parents didn't stay together after his birth, but that had no impact upon their relationship with Cai. Both were always there for him. They both showered him with love and affection, and provided him with everything that he need or desired. In short, his childhood was a happy one. Cai had a charming personality that drew people to him, and several wished to gain his heart but none never did. That is until she came along. She was a human, but she was the most beautiful being that he had ever seen. He knew from the very moment that she was going to be the one he married, and true to his words he did marry her. There were those whom were not happy with this. Some wished for Cai to marry themselves or their daughters. Others whom did not think humans were marriage material, or whom simply didn't like the idea of a human and demon being together.
Cai ignored these protests. It didn't matter to him what anyone thought of their relationship. The only thing that mattered was that they were okay with it, and it was clear from the fact she had agreed to be his wife they was. They lived happily together for some time, and had two beautiful children together but as everyone knows there is no is no such thing as a happy ending. Some of those whom had been vocal about their disapproval of his relationship with his human decided to take action into their own hands---they killed her and their two children. He came home to find his family slaughtered. He had no idea whom had done such a thing, and every effort to find the culprit turned up with nothing.
So, he turned to the only person he could blame with certainty--himself. It was his fault they were dead. If only he had returned home sooner. If only he had never left. If only he had paid attention to those whom might have cause to harm his family. If only he hadn't fallen in love with his human in the first place than she might still be alive. There were a thousand other reasons why their death was his fault, and each one only added to his pain and guilt. It seemed that he was going to be pulled into the pit of despair until he decided to close his heart off. He did so for two reason. The first he thought the only way to get on with his life was to stop feeling. He knew his wife would not wish for him to waste away like this, and the second he did not wish to go through that pain again. He figured if he didn't care than he wouldn't have to worry about someone he loved dying.
It didn't stop with closing his heart off. He decided to play with people's heart. He claims it is done out of amusement, but the truth is it is done to protect himself more than it is to hurt them. If treats them as if they are nothing more than his personal playthings than he won't feel tempted to open his heart again. It was a game he was quite good at. He had always been charming, but there was something about his new brooding nature that really drew potential lovers to him. He would make one fall in love with him. He would convince them that their existence would be meaningless without him. He would allow their relationship to progress until they came to the point where they sleep together. He always made them believe for that sexual intimacy was a big deal. He was an old fashion type of man, or at the very least he was the type of person whom only had sex with someone he loved. He would sleep with them than toss them to the curb once he was done---leaving them to deal with the aftermath and any feelings that came with it.
He might allow some to share his bed multiple times, but he makes it clear that he cares nothing for them and that he is only using them for his pleasure. This doesn't stop some from climbing into his bed as many times as he demands. Perhaps, they are so in love with him that they don't notice his cruelty, or perhaps they do and convince themselves they will be the one to melt his icy heart. Not everyone was pulled in by his charm. His pet certainly wasn't. At first, she didn't give him as much as a second glance and as such he paid her no attention. Sure, there might be something said about making someone whom has no interest in you falling head over heel in love with you---a challenge to be certain, but when it came to his game he wanted absolutes not possibilities.
It wasn't until after he played his game with his pet's best friend that she decided to show interest within him. She was angry with his treatment of her friends and because of it how her best friend spiraled into a depth of depression that she has yet to escape from. His pet thought he needed to be taught a lesson and she decided to do it by turning his own game against him. It never occurred to her that her sudden interest within him might draw his suspicion, which in turn would lead him to figure out what her intentions was. He could have revealed to her that he was very aware of her little plan, but he decided against it. He wanted to see if she would be able to figure out that she wasn't pulling the wool over his eyes, and he even dropped a few clues to let her know that he was playing a new game with her.
She didn't notice them. Perhaps, she was too preoccupied with besting him at his own game that it didn't occur to her that the rules had changed. Regardless, the night they were sleep together would arrive. She had every intention of leaving him before the act was committed, but before she could go through with her plan Cai grabbed her hands, placed them above her head and told her that he was very aware of her plan. He had been aware of them since the beginning, and wanted to see how far she would take her little game before it occurred to her that he knew. She never did notice. She was just another victim of his games, but unlike the others he wasn't going to let her go. He was going to keep her as his pet---his personal play thing.

Present
Some time have passed since he had gained his new pet. He knows that her feelings towards him towards him haven't changed. In fact, after discovering what he was she probably think him more of a monster, or at the very least it was all the confirmation she needed. He keeps her close by him at all times. No doubt she believes that he will eventually grow bored of her. She might even be hoping for such a thing. However, as long as she hates him he will not release her. One could call it a new game, and it is certainly one Cai has no intention of losing. The only question will he toss her aside once he had made her fall in love with him, or had he finally found the one whom will break through his walls and into his own heart.
